Built on Colebatch Way next to the Karlarra House residential aged-care facility, the new centre brings together the majority of health related services which were previously spread over sites in both South and Port Hedland to become a health care hub for the Pilbara region, providing Pilbara residents with access to more specialists in one convenient location.

 The Hedland Health Campus is a brand new, modern, purpose-built facility, providing a range of inpatient and outpatient facilities and primary health services including: 

  • 24 hour emergency department
  • Operating suite with two operating theatres
  • Day surgery
  • In-patient beds
  • Special care nursery
  • Dedicated ward areas for medical/surgical, obstetrics and paediatrics and a high dependency unit
  • Ambulatory care wing including renal dialysis and consultation facilities for primary health and mental health, drug and alcohol services
  • Medical imaging X-ray services, pathology and inpatient pharmacy services
  • Aged care services
  • Outpatient and allied health services such as child health, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology and home nursing services
  • Visiting specialist services such as adult and paediatric cardiology, echo cardiology, ear nose and throat, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, podiatry, nephrology, respiratory medicine, rheumatology, urology, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics and anaesthetics
  • Patient Assisted Travel Scheme (PATS)
  • Support services buildings.

The old Port Hedland Hospital closed its doors to the public in November 2010 after 35 years of servicing the community.
